So the story goes, Orjan Andersson began working with jeans 14 years ago, it all started in a Swedish denim store where he sold jeans for about ten years. Branded as a denim expert, he was sought out by the biggest denim brands out there to educate them and share his vast knowledge. It was during this time that Orjan set up his own business, a vintage store, with friend Adam Friberg. The store, appropriately named Weekend was only open Saturdays and Sundays, and situated in a seldomly visited suburb in Sweden and sought by true jean fanatics. In April 2002, Orjan and Adam opened a new store in a more centralized location in Stockholm, and in addition to vintage they also carried jeans. This time they named the store Weekday -- you guessed it, open 7 days! In the beginning of 2004, Orjan was struck with the idea of creating his own denim line as a gift to all of Weekday's regular customers. Cheap Monday was born and named after the cheapest day of the week when all your money is spent on weekend fun. It also reflects the price tag - Cheap Monday retails for only $65 a pair. |
